WHAT IS THE LOOMIS GARAGE CONCEPT?

The Loomis Garage is undergoing a renovation focused on preserving its history and retro small-town character with attention to its nostalgic 1950’s charm. The Loomis Garage buildings will maintain the vintage exposed beam ceilings on the interior and retro garage motif on the exterior.

The Loomis Garage is curating a desired portfolio of commercial retail consisting of multiple open units (565-1,308 sf) that can be combined to increase square footage and built to suit each tenant’s needs.

In addition to aesthetic and location, the objective is to attract tenant businesses that complement each other while contributing to the vibrancy of the Loomis community.

HOW OLD IS THE BUILDING?

In 1919 the first building was established by Bernhard Mehl as an auto repair shop known as General Garage at the corner of Taylor Road (former Olive Street and future US Route 40) and Walnut Street. Four garage bays and office space were later added, and the property operated as Mehl Chevrolet between 1929 and 1956. Since 1956 the property has been the site for several businesses including a General Tire store, a savings & loan bank, and a law office.
